Greetings to you this stormy Saturday morning in the Pacific Northwest! Fall is definitely on our heels and so I thought this bundled up little owl fit my mood perfectly for this clean and simple thank you card.

MFT Stamps is running a Superstar Card Designer challenge right now where you can win a shopping spree gift card to their store, and so I thought I would give this a shot since a vast majority of my stamps and dies are from MFT and I love their products. There are three categories to enter: clean and simple, coloring virtuoso and innovation master. Here is my entry today is for the clean and simple category.

The stamp set I used is called Warm & Feathered Hugs designed by the famous Stacey Yacula. She really is a talented stamp designer…I love everything she creates! The second component to this card uses the Die-Namics Thank You Circle Frame Die. I die cut three of these from 110 lb. cardstock and glued them all together to build up some dimension. This was trickier than it looked! Getting the letters all lined up perfectly before the glue set was a challenge.

I colored the adorable owl with lots of colors in the Warm Gray family of copics and then added a splash of color in the scarf with one of my favorite color combos – lime green and teal. For some final detail work, I used a 0.1 copic multi-liner to add some texture to the scarf and also enhance the look of feathers around his face.

I used a pigment ink from Mama Elephant called Winter to shade in the circular area behind the owl. The color is subtle but also helps to tie in with the colors of the scarf.

The last design element I added was a dry embossed stitched circle die also from MFT. This is a circle die meant to cut all the way through but when you use an embossing pad instead of cutting plates in your die machine, you can get just an impression of the die on your paper without cutting it all the way through. A simple and elegant way to add more detail to your card.

I left the inside of the card blank so I can write my note of thanks when I am ready to send this off. I love how this turned out! Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think!
