Penelope has a Pencil

Hi folks. Happy hump day. I have a new card and video to share with you. (It’s a short one.) Today is a horrible weather day here in my neck of the woods and it just felt like a good day to color. Of course, my husband would say – “uhmmm…when don’t you feel like coloring??!” 🙂 Anyway…I filmed the coloring part for your viewing pleasure.

Here’s a look at the finished card. Pretty cute, huh? I love Stampingbella stamps. This one is an oldie, but a goodie. I have to say she is probably one of the first stamps I ever purchased. Now I have hundreds of stamp sets, but I still come back to this one every now and again. She just makes me smile.

If you have a couple minutes to watch, just click the link to the video below. Thanks for stopping by my blog today – and I hope your weather is better than mine! 🙂

Colored pencils and pumpkins

Today was day 2 of Kathy’s 30 day coloring challenge and I felt compelled to do another fall themed project.   (I’m still not ready to ink up the Christmas stamps yet!)  This is an old stamp from years ago – in fact I bought this stamp about 10 years ago before I even realized how much I loved stamping!  Anyway…I love it and every time I stamp it and color it I surprise myself with a new result.  This one was stamped with Momento black dye ink, then brought to life with Raffine colored pencils – which is not my favorite medium, but decided to give it a go tonight and was pleased with the result and how easily the colors blended.  The shading was done with copic grays.  No sentiment on this one since the image is so large, but honestly this one kind of speaks for itself, don’t you think?

Marker Storage

My marker collection was getting a bit out of hand and I went on the hunt for an affordable solution that also fit my very small work space.  I found these racks that worked beautifully!  Its so very nice to be able to see all my colors and to sort them properly.  What I found online is made by the Crafters Companion and I found them on Amazon for about $26.  I had to buy four of these because I wanted room to spread out and sort the colors (and much to my husband’s chagrin, to be able to add more).  They are plastic but pretty sturdy and they come in a pale blue clear color or in black.  Each box holds 72 markers.  They are the perfect depth for copic markers and I also used a couple of sections to put my Tombow Water Color markers in as well which are taller and stick out a bit further than what is ideal, but it works.  You can also double up the Tombow markers – 2 to a slot because they have a much thinner barrel than the copics.

I want to point out that these do not come with any mounting hardware and I believe there were designed to sit on a shelf or tabletop.  Because I have limited space I wanted them mounted to the wall, so darling hubby got out the drill and a couple of screws and we were able to screw them into the wall without shattering or splintering the plastic.  Worked like a charm!
