Hi folks! Well…I’m just not ready to jump into holiday card making yet, so I thought I would get familiar with some new Halloween sets that I have purchased this year. Today’s card showcases the “Witch Feet” stamp set from Hero Arts. I also used a cute little “Spider and Bats” mini stamp set from Penny Black. For the inside of the card, I used the Ghoul Friend set from Art Impressions.

To get started, I first inked up the background for card using distress oxide inks in wilted violet, blueprint sketch and black soot. Oh, and I did use some white pigment ink to blend in the center to lighten it up a bit so that it was not so dark and the black sentiment would pop out more. To give it kind of a night sky effect, I splattered water first to get the oxides to react which created the speckled splotchy background. Then to give it a starry sky feel, I splatted perfect pearls which is just the perfect pearls powder mixed with water.

I stamped and colored the witches feet, then die cut them. I found that the white border that was left after I die cut them stood out a bit too much on the card, so I colored it with a C4 Cool Gray copic marker and I think this looks much better.

I arranged everything on my card and took a pencil to outline the boxes of where I wanted to stamp in the spider, bats and sentiment. I stamped and embossed everything on the base and then began to assemble.

The stitched frame die is from MFTStamps and I use this often but I can’t find a link to it anymore, so it might be discontinued. I die cut this from white card stock and then one more time from a piece of black craft foam that I used to pop it up for some dimension. I used black soot distress ink to give the white frame a spooky weathered look. I love it!

Now for the inside – which is pretty cute too. There is a stamp manufacturer called Two-Lips Stamps and they have all kinds of funny (and punny) sentiments that are great for the inside of your cards. I thought this one was fitting for this Halloween themed card – it made me smile.

The hanging spider web and jack-o-lantern banner came from the stamp set made by Art Impressions – called Ghoul Friend Set. (Stay tuned for more on this set – I can’t wait to start coloring these two crazy ladies!)
